EK1 Iron Cross / Eisernes Kreuz Late period box Case / Etui with white interior (so-called half box – without close)

EK1 Late period box with white interior (so-called half box – without close)

This box is a manufactured piece made towards the middle or end of the war
As we know, these types of boxes did not use a lock, opening button and any metal lock hardware or hinges (for material and cost efficiency), due to this. The interesting thing about the box is that it has the stamp “Josef Kohl” he was a jeweler and dealt in private sales but did not have an LDO license number, like many other such jewelers or medal dealers.
On these boxes, unlike the others, the opening option was solved with a “paper hinge” instead of a metal one, like on the EK2 boxes, unfortunately this is damaged on this piece, but the box still works perfectly well because the internal fabric reinforcement holds the lid and the bottom of the box together/ see the picture.
Despite this, this piece is a beautiful and exceptional example or even a decoration for a collection, since the manufacturer or seller of the box can be linked to someone.
