EK1 Iron Cross / Eisernes Kreuz Friedrich Orth, Wien marked PKZ number 15 regular frame, on the L/14 pin, with non-mag Zinc own core
EK1 Iron Cross / Eisernes Kreuz Friedrich Orth, Wien marked PKZ number 15 regular frame, on the L/14 pin, with non-mag Zinc own core
Friedrich Orth, Wien with PKZ number 15 and used the LDO number L/14 too (these pieces “L/14” are even less available than traditional Orth pieces)
This piece is an exceptional example of how Orth produced all kinds of variations of the parts he sold and made himself.
This piece has his own front and rear frame, but the LDO L/14 is a piece made after 41 on privately sold crosses, i.e. late bikes, when non-magnetic inner cores were banned, plus it is a zinc core which makes this one-off piece even more special, I have never seen such a piece before.
This piece is the Holy Grail of Orth for me
We know of several versions of F. Orth, because the number of versions is so wide because he also cooperated with another Viennese manufacturer Rudolf Sou and they sometimes helped each other with “spare parts”.
I tried to collect all the existing versions, and I more or less succeeded.
This piece, this type, is one of the versions of the collection.
The result of more than 10 years of searching.
These pieces are not very common and are very popular among collectors/ maybe that is why they are difficult to find/
