EK2 Iron Cross / Eisernes Kreuz 55 – J.E. Hammer & Söhne “thicker ribbed frame” with so called “Austrian ribbon” solution
Hammer & Söhne pieces are not rare, in fact they enjoy the so-called “ugly” label among the manufacturers of iron cross crosses, because the frames of the late pieces were very shabby, disintegrated, ugly and unworked, because the wear of the striker was always corrected and the result was not very nice.
As I wrote, the manufacturer is not rare, but this piece is the so-called “thicker ribbed frame” which is not very common, and it is also difficult to find, because many people confuse it with another manufacturer, because the frame has not disintegrated, but because many collectors do not really keep track of the frame versions, just have it marked 55 and you are done the “” manufacturer” collection.
I was not like this when I was still actively looking for the different versions.
